Our Mission
To explore our identity and unique purpose within God’s kingdom by learning to hear His voice and do what he says
We are a church that values…
Being unwavering on the Gospel message, but flexible and Spirit-led in the method
- Geographical, conversational, context-reliant, biblical preaching (Gen. 1:1-Rev. 22:21)
- Creative and engaging forms of worship that prompt people to participate
- “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.” -J. Wesley
Refuge in the Father
God will never leave us nor forsake us. He will also never leave us as we are. He loves us too much to let the lies and destructive patterns continue to control us. (1 Sam. 22:1-2 & Ps. 46:1-3)
Transformation through Christ
It starts with being honest! Are we willing to verbalize to the Lord the things we have believed about ourselves, about Him, or about others (beliefs that have severed relationships and left us feeling lost)? When we are honest, then God can correct that narrative. We call this confession (truth-telling) & repentance (truth-hearing). (Mark 1:9-15, Ps. 57, Ps. 142)
Partnership with the Holy Spirit
As we are transformed through Christ, we also begin to partner (truth-walk) with Him and others who are on the same journey. This is what it means to believe (to act as if it is so). (Mark 1:9-15)
Creativity & The Freedom To Fail
We value real and authentic experiences that showcase our heart to be as invitational and disarming as possible. (Ex. 35:31-35 & Matt. 14:28-30)
A Healthy Balance between Shared Ownership & Proper Stewardship
The Church belongs to Jesus, not us. He doesn’t have to partner with us, but He chooses to anyway, and that’s pretty amazing! (Matt. 25:14-30)
Experiencing Joy
It’s okay to walk with a limp while also being committed to growing in emotional, mental, relational, physical, and spiritual health. (Num. 6:4-9)
Worship In All Its Forms
Worship is more than just singing. It’s about being willing to receive all God has for us. It’s laying down expectations of what we think should happen and, instead, becoming expectant for all that God can do in us and through us. It is about posture, not performance, in all aspects of our lives. (Gen. 2:15; Heb. 7:27; Gen. 24:26-27, 52; Ps. 34:1)
The “Wet Ankle Zone”
Sometimes God asks us to move before we see the miracle. We believe these are opportunities to trust He is at work, even if we can’t see it in the moment. (Josh. 3:9-13)
An Intergenerational Family
If you call Jesus “Lord & Savior”, you belong to a spiritual family–no matter your age or stage in life! (Deut. 6:4-9)
Our Story
Crossroads Community Church’s story began in January of 1996 when six adults gathered for Bible study and prayer to seek God’s direction in planting a community church in Nampa, Idaho. Six weeks later, this small group began its first service at the Nampa Civic Center. They were not alone in their efforts, as the Evangelical Methodist Church sponsored, gave financial assistance, and provided accountability to the new church.
On Pentecost Sunday, May 31st, 2020, Crossroads Community Church birthed a sister church—Crossroads Church—in Caldwell, Idaho. Both churches hold to some similar values (Refuge, Transformation, & Partnership) and EMC affiliation; however, as independent churches, both are unique in their methods, vision, and mission for reaching their particular communities.
What we believe about…
God
- In the eternally existing Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- In God the Father who concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of man.
- In Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, teachings, His atoning death, resurrection, ascension into heaven, and promise of His personal, visible return to earth and the establishing of His kingdom.
- In the Holy Spirit and His present ministry of rebirth and renewal as well as the giving of spiritual gifts to each follower of Christ.
Humans
- That both men and women are created in God’s image and are qualified to lead as enabled by the Holy Spirit.
- That all people have sinned yet are made in the image of God. Only repentance and faith in Christ can restore us into fellowship with God.
- In the global Church and the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
Faith
- In the Bible as the fully inspired Word of God, the only infallible rule for faith and practice.
- In Water Baptism and Communion as a means of grace from God to us.
- In the “Apostles’ Creed” as the fundamental facts of Christian faith and the historic orthodox creeds of the church.
Meet the Crossroads Team
A NOTE ON LEADERSHIP
Before introducing you to our team, we want you to know we believe leadership is about everyday people using their gifts and calling to make an impact on people’s lives in both small and large group settings, both inside and outside the church. Men and women lead in every aspect of ministry at Crossroads, and we do so through a team approach, collaborating in concert with one another’s unique gifting in accordance with Ephesians 4:11-13 (Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, Teacher).
Additionally, some of our staff leaders submit to a process of ordination resulting in a role of spiritual oversight that focuses on ensuring the overall health of the body of Christ.
